Ownership Report Update:We've simplified how Ownership Over Time (time series chart) is shown, focusing exclusively on "active devices," which are our engaged users.
- Why is this important? Firstly, you'll get more accurate numbers, showing our daily, weekly, and monthly user base precisely. It's a straightforward way to notice any changes in user activity. Secondly, no more confusion. We used to mix active and inactive devices in this chart, which sometimes made things unclear. By focusing solely on active users, we're making sure you get reliable insights, without any misleading data.
Introducing the Downloads Report A fusion of the prior Installation and Growth Insights reports.
- We're excited to unveil our latest update that streamlines the installation and growth reports into one comprehensive Downloads report, in line with Native App Install terminology. This transformation captures the presence of the app on devices, regardless of whether it was actually opened, now referred to as "Downloads."
- Driven by a shift in our Growth calculation towards net new downloads (formerly based off Ownership), the new report showcases the Downloaded Growth Over Time data adjacent to the Downloads charts. This revised approach integrates net new downloads (new downloads minus uninstalls) along with NAI data, offering a more positive and holistic perspective on our growth performance. This amalgamation paints a comprehensive picture of our app's success story, reflecting a nuanced and complete understanding of our performance.

Data Retention Policy Update: In order to align with our legal and privacy requirements, and to ensure compliance with industry regulations, we will now be implementing a data retention period of two years.
- Our platform will be retained for a maximum period of two years. After this timeframe, the data will be securely and permanently deleted from our systems
- By implementing a data retention period of two years, we aim to enhance the protection of our users' personal information and ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws. Additionally, limiting the retention period, we reduce the risk of holding unnecessary data and ensure that personal information is stored responsibly.
- The two-year data retention policy applies to all user data collected on our platform, including but not limited to usage patterns, app activity, and user engagement metrics.

Persistent Parameters Feature: Enhanced functionality that allows the report settings to persist across different Insight reports in order to provide a seamless user experience by automatically retaining the selected parameters as users navigate between reports.
- All report parameters, including app (primary and comparative), segment, granularity, and date range, should be saved and applied automatically when switching between Insight reports.
- The selected parameters should remain fixed until the user runs a new report, at which point the newly selected parameters will take effect.
Overview Report Enhancement: Overview page is now available to all users again after retooling! The Overview report offers a consolidated view of app insights on one page, providing a convenient snapshot of key app usage metrics.
- New features added: Ability to toggle Primary and Comparative apps, adjust Segment, Granularity, and Date Range parameters.
Designated Market Areas (DMAs) Data Integration: We have added the ability to select Designated Market Areas as a Segment dropdown filter, enabling users to gain valuable app insights specific to their regional markets.
- New features added: To utilize this feature, simply navigate to the Segment dropdown within each App Insights report and select your desired DMA, allowing you to make apply target regions to your app's usage insights.
Retention Report Update: Newly added apps will only have historical processing by request. Retention report to only have Week and Month intervals.
May 2023
Non-Panel Multiplier Update: Previously, the device counts displayed on the Insights platform consisted a heavy skew of Magenta Android devices from our 1P Diagnostics panel. While this approach provided us with valuable data, we recognized that it may not give us a complete picture of the total device count in the United States, especially for apps that are popular on iOS or Metro devices. To address this limitation, we have incorporated additional data from broadband and introduced a new multiplier that takes into account the lack of iOS and Metro devices in our Device Panel. This allows us to more accurately estimate the total device count and provide you with more precise and reliable data.
Native App Install Feed Integration: Additionally, we have incorporated a new data source (Native App Installation feed) which allows us to track the raw number of installs from NAI with complete data. As a result, all NAI installs are now accounted for in our calculations, further improving the accuracy of our data.
